Papa's Knees

Ok, chalk this one up to "Be careful what you say around children!"

It seems that Micah has been concerned with Papa's knees. I understand that he was creating a card for me and was taking great pains to draw "Papa's bad knees."

I'm not sure where he heard that but it's probably been a time when I was getting up off the floor and casually said something about bad knees.



I hope this hasn't caused him much concern because as you can see, Papa's knees are just fine! Perhaps, because of the prayers of a little boy! Thanks Micah.

Riley Days 208

Well, after a very quick trip to Louisville, we were able to make it back in time on Saturday to visit the annual Riley Days celebration in Greenfield.

Just a few shots of the action...

I particularly like the two tough guys pushing baby strollers.









You'll notice that all of the pictures are taken on the food street. A place that is near and dear to my heart. (We were actually pretty good. We shared a breaded tenderloin and a funnel cake with hot fudge topping!)







That's right! The sign says "Vegetables". What you don't see is the "Deep Fried" part.

Tire Change Time

Well, I've decided to change my own tires on the Road King. I started with the rear wheel because I thought it would probably be the hardest to change.







Getting the wheel off wasn't very difficult at all. Getting the tire off and back on the wheel was a real chore. I don't believe I would have got it finished if it hadn't been for Linda. She was a real trooper.


Anyway, the rear wheel is back on. It was very satisfying to see the new tire on the rear.














I start on the front tomorrow after church.

Labor Day MC trip

Linda and I took a short Labor Day weekend ride last week. We left after church on Sunday and came back Monday evening. It was a very uneventful ride. (That's a good thing!) But we did go back to a road that we hadn't been on since our wreck in 2003. State Road 135 is a great motorcycle road that runs from the south side of Indy to Corydon. We rode the stretch from Trafalgar to US 50. It runs along the eastern border of Brown County State Park. It was just south of there that we wrecked 5 years ago.

The trip took us through some very interesting towns. Places named Flat Rock, Gnaw Bone, Hangman Crossing, Freetown, Brownstown, New Elizabethtown. Fruitdale, Blooming Grove and Sunman. Dublin, Nebraska, and Butlerville. There was a Wesleyan church on S. Marion St. in Holton. A Free Will Baptist church in Negangards Corner. (How does a church plant start in Negangards Corner?)

All in all it was a great ride. Just under 300 miles. At one point, about where we crashed, I noticed in my rear view mirror that Linda had her arms up. (I thought she was hiding her eyes.) She was putting on sunscreen! She was relaxed enough on the curves that she was putting on sunscreen. It was good to have her that comfortable on the bike again.

Trip to Rochester, NY

I have to be in Rochester this week for a Network+ certification class. Linda was able to take a week off, so here we are on our way to New York.

We needed a coffee break in Dayton, Ohio. Guess where we stopped? Tim Horton's!!! I'll be finishing off the Timbits when I finish here.



We've stopped for the evening in Independence, Ohio. It's a very nice area and we found a great place to eat ribs. And it has a great name...


We are really enjoying the hotel room. It has a 42", flat panel HDTV. I may not be able to get Linda to leave.

Franklin came to visit today!

Hey, look who showed up at our house today! He cornered himself at our fence so I put him in a box and took him down to the pond. I think he will be much happier there.

The Jeep is gone!

In an effort to save the planet and it's precious resources, we've replaced the 16 mpg Jeep with the 35 mpg Toyota Yaris. It's a fun little car to drive. (5 speed manual transmission) It does have power windows and door locks and CD with MP3 capability, but that is about it as far as bells and whistles.

I will drive it to Indy and Linda will take over the van here in town.
